Ooi completed her MBBS in 1990 at the National University of Singapore and received her DPH after completing her residency in Emergency Medicine at Singapore General Hospital. Ooi is now an emergency physician at the National University Hospital, the specialist emergency department for Singapore. She is also a member of the Singapore Association for Emergency Medicine and leads a number of seminars.
